Justin Bieber has approached this video with a more artistic and cultured point of view, he is in a modern art gallery, which makes him seem older and more mature
Here he is shown in plain clothing and dimly lit, this helps to create him as a normal person, rather than the centre of attention look that he previously obtained
The main theme of the video is a mid-shot of Justin Bieber
with quick flashes of drawings around him, this still maintains him as the star
of the video, however the quick flashes of different drawings take a bit of the
attention away from him, it also helps to create him as a man of the people, as
it shows thousands of different, possibly fans art interacting with him,
creating the impression he focuses a lot of attention to his fans.
In terms of Dyer's theory, Justin Bieber is absent as he is isolated and on his own, and he is not in
shots with the ordinary people, yet he is present as he is there and performs to the
camera. He is ordinary as he is dressed like a casual young man rather than
extravegent clothing that may be expected of someone with enormous amounts of wealth such as himself, yet he is extraordinary as he is at the centre of the artwork and
it is done to fit his body, therefore creating him as the main focus and positioning
him as very important, this shows how the video complies to Dyers key paradox's. His star image is still very evident in the video, he is
presented here as youthfull and creative, which is another key observation of Dyer.
Another theorist in which this video complies to their ideas is Goodwin's. The video focuses a lot on Justin Bieber, it is evident he is the star, this
is a characteristic of Justin Biebers usual pop genre, however this is an
Electric Dance song, these often have more artistic and visually adventurous
colourful videos to match their vibrant sounds, this video therefore fits both
categories. Also I have noted that Skrillex, despite being huge in the world of Dance music, has very little screen time, this is common within the wider genre of dance music, with very few artists, given the exception of more mainstream artists such as Calvin Harris for example, making strong appearances in their videos.
